Racing Insider's Podcast - Spacers, Scams, and Hot Engines (Video)

Published by CRATE INSIDER on 10th May 2022

Welcome to the Racing Insider’s Podcast!

Each week, Kate Dillon from Crate Insider and Steve Hendren from Hendren Racing Engines go live on the Crate Insider Facebook page to chat about world events, random things, and to answer tech questions.

This week Kate and Steve grace us with their banter and answer tech questions. Steve goes full rant over recent allegations that racers need matched rocker arms. This is false, it is a SCAM! Kate is doing a staycation this week to get a breather from the busy year. She will come back full force on the 16th! Crate Insider is still open for business and shipping.

QUESTIONS ASKED ON THE SHOW

Is there any advantage to the digital MSD box compared to a chip MSD box? What are the differences other then price?
We run dirtcar Sportsman here in n.y. Bicknell Racing Products sells 1/4" spacers. We had a 1" and were told the 1/4" is better. Seems to be better but wondered what you thought?
I run a 1/4" carb spacer. Is that better than 1"?
Car gets hot in a matter of a few laps. Like 220 in 6 laps from 140. Plugs look good. Sport mod open motor. 36 degrees of timing. 77 jets on a 4412 2 barrel(same as last year with no issues). Jones pulley setup. 5.875" water pump pulley. 5.5" crank pulley. Was running jones 3 blade fan. Switched to racefan 4 blade after first night. Radiator is brand new. Running restrictions in place of thermostat. What else should I check?
I just bought a 14 race old 602 it has button seals. Valve springs supposed to be 3 races old. Ran in a modified. Going to run in latemodel. What are some things I need to check before I crank it?
Tell me a little more about the 602 carb on the restrictor where to get and size?
Is it better to run alternator or not?
Hello guys, I have a question about ignition timing on the 602, Do y'all ever play with the timing with 110 octane race gas and or colder plugs?
